About the PDF to Word Converter
This PDF to Word converter turns a document into an editable .docx in your browser, page by page, and names the pages that are scans so you know the gap is in the file, not in the tool.
A PDF is built to be read exactly, and a Word file is built to be changed. Converting between the two is the job, and doing it in the browser means a contract, a statement, or a form never has to be handed to a stranger's server first — the file stays on the machine it started on.
How to use the PDF to Word Converter
- Choose your PDF, or drop it onto the page.
- Press Convert to Word. The text is read in your browser and the .docx is built, page breaks and all.
- Open the .docx in Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice and edit the text in place. Scanned pages show as blank gaps, named in the detail line.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF to Word?
Choose your PDF and press Convert to Word. The text is read in your browser and a .docx is built with the same pages, with a page break between each one. The file opens in Word, Google Docs, and LibreOffice. The row reports how many pages, how many words, and the byte size of the document it produced.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The file is parsed by PDF.js inside the page and the .docx is assembled in the browser, so the document never leaves your device. There is no upload step, no processing queue, and no size limit imposed by a server — only the memory your own browser has.
Why did my PDF produce an empty Word file?
Because it has no text layer. A scanned page, a photograph of a receipt, and an exported slide with the words outlined are all pictures of text, and there are no characters inside the file to put in a Word document. The tool says so in a sentence and names the pages involved rather than handing you a blank .docx. Run the document through OCR first to add a text layer, then convert.
Does it keep tables, columns, and layout?
It keeps the text, the page breaks, and the reading order, and it does not keep the layout. A PDF stores each piece of text with a position on the page, not as a table or a column, so a two-column paper or a side-by-side table comes out as reading order in the Word file. That is the same limitation every PDF-to-Word converter has, because it is a property of the source format, not of the tool.
What happens with a password-protected PDF?
It is refused, with a message that says so. A password-protected file is encrypted, and its text cannot be read until it is decrypted — so remove the password in a PDF reader first, then drop the file again. You get that sentence instead of a failure that looks like a broken tool.
Is there a limit on file size or page count?
There is no limit from this site, because nothing is uploaded. The practical ceiling is your browser's memory: the file is read one page at a time and each page is released as soon as its text is taken, so a several-hundred-page report is fine on a desktop and slower on a phone.
Can I convert several PDFs at once?
Yes. Add more than one file to the list and each is converted to its own .docx, and a download-all option packs the results into a ZIP. The text and page breaks of each file are kept separately; nothing is merged across files.
What is the difference between this and a text extractor?
A text extractor hands back the words as a .txt file, which is right when the goal is to paste them somewhere. This one hands back a .docx, which is right when the goal is to edit the document — change a date, strike a name, reflow a paragraph — and keep the page breaks so the edited file is still recognisable as the document it started from.
